To go along with their partnership with the Olympics and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020, Toyota created a new vehicle specifically for use at the Games. So, what is the Toyota APM mobility vehicle?
Toyota at the Olympic Games
Toyota recently announced the new Toyota Accessible People Mover (APM) vehicle for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is a low-speed, electric vehicle that will be used to conveniently transport visitors and staff at the Games with three rows of seating and accommodations for those in wheelchairs and if necessary, a stretcher.
During these upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo, Toyota is planning to use approximately 200 new APM models to help transport visitors and staff across the facilities quickly and efficiently. In fact, these vehicles will be moving between events and competitions, as well as to non-event official sites like the Olympic Village.
There will be two different models used, the Basic and Relief models. The Basic model will be able to accommodate either a driver and 5 passengers or a driver with 2 other passengers and a passenger in a wheelchair. The Relief model will be able to transport the driver, 2 members of the relief staff and a relief seeker.
