Toyota Avalon Gets AWD…Soon
You may have already heard that the 2020 Toyota Camry now has an available AWD option. As a result, it’s natural to wonder which other Toyota sedans either already have AWD or may be getting it. Toyota has gone on record calling the Avalon their flagship model. It would make sense to give the Avalon AWD then, wouldn’t it?
Is the Toyota Avalon AWD?
Toyota Avalon AWD Availability
The Toyota Avalon is getting AWD in 2021. Unlike the Toyota Camry which had the option made available for its 2020 production run, the Avalon will have the drivetrain introduced alongside its 2021 release. Only two Avalon trims will be getting the AWD option: XLE and Limited. The 2021 Avalon model is for American release only. Assembly will happen at the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky.
2021 Toyota Avalon Features
Another big change for the 2021 Avalon is the availability of a non-hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. In the past the Avalon has only been offered with a V6 or a hybrid drivetrain four-cylinder. The new four-cylinder will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. There are a number of available add-ons that make the 2021 Avalon even more appealing. For instance, there is the navigation package which includes an integrated navigation system and a premium nine-speaker JBL audio system and subwoofer. There is also the driver assistance package that includes a bird’s-eye-view camera with perimeter scan, intelligent clearance sonar with rear cross-traffic braking, multi-stage ventilated front seats, and a 10-inch color display.
