The 2017 Toyota Tacoma has many similarities to the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, but comes with a special Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro trim package that makes off-roading even more awesome than before.

This new truck has a wider, higher stance, new LED fog lights and special FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks tuned by TRD. The 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro is a four-wheel drive double cab short bed that features extra hardware that makes it even more suitable for all terrains. Additional technology features like a windshield GoPro camera mount, a new version of Etune infotainment with navigation, Bluetooth and the Toyota app suite make it entertaining all weekend long. A blind spot sensor, rear parking assist sonar, and rear cross-traffic make this one of the most advanced trucks for 2017.

Toyota to begin robotics and automated vehicle research

As a Toyota dealer in Martinsburg, WV, Apple Valley Toyota is happy to keep you updated on the biggest and best in Toyota news. A leader in innovation, the Toyota brand is prepared to join the automated vehicle and robotics revolution. We are glad to announce that the automaker, in partnership with Open Source Robotics, will be researching new software and methods of engineering to create new technology that will wow our customers in the future.

A new agreement between the Toyota Research Institute and Open Source Robotics leaders has come about after a $1 million charitable contribution to support a newly-formed subsidiary of Open Source Robotics Foundation (OSRF) called Open Source Robotics Corporation (OSRC). This deal is to “expand the development of both open source and proprietary tools for Toyota’s fast-growing robotics and automated vehicle research initiatives.”

OSRF is a non-profit organization comprised of leaders in the global robotics community who oversee the development of Gazebo, a 3D multi-robot simulator and the Robot Operating System (ROS), a flexible framework for writing robot software.

According to a press release from Toyota representatives, the move to expand the Toyota Research Institute research and engineering reflects “Toyota’s ongoing evolution beyond the boundaries of the conventional automotive industry to become a broad-based mobility technology company.”

Using the expertise of engineers at OSRC, the Toyota brand will be ahead of the game with industry-leading technology platforms. As part of the two-year agreement, the automaker will be involved in a variety of initiatives that build upon the framework of the brand’s commitment to move forward.

The Toyota Effect: National Public Lands Day

As a Toyota dealer, we care deeply about our impact on the community and the environment around us at Apple Valley Toyota in Maryland and West Virginia. That’s why we’re proud to announce that the Toyota brand will be sponsoring National Public Lands Day across the country on September 24, 2016.

This initiative incorporates a hands-on approach to restoring, refurbishing, and rehabilitating the environment. Thousands of Toyota volunteers will unite in a variety of national parks, local forests, and beaches in an effort to make sure it is not only our vehicles that “go places,” but also our time and energy that “go” toward positively impacting the world around us.

What you may not know is that more than 30 percent of all land in America is public and it is your right to enjoy it. This also means that it is our civic duty to take care of the public areas where we spend time recreationally. This month is a great time to celebrate the space which we all share and learn more about mother nature.

Trash, invasive species, and trails in disrepair can make enjoying the great public spaces available difficult. With your help, we can learn more about plants and wildlife as well as how to take care of and preserve them for years to come.

The 23rd annual National Public Lands Day is free of fees; we are simply looking for as many people to take part as possible. Visit the National Public Lands Day webpage to find an event near you or to learn more about how to volunteer.
Visit our website or stop by our lot for more information on the great changes the Toyota brand has in store for the community or to check out our wide inventory of new Toyota cars. We’ll see you soon!
